Karen –
Good drink for those with diabetes and/or high blood pressure who want all natural ingredients!
I am a Type 1 Diabetic and I live in the South where it’s very hot and humid. I could use an electrolyte drink sometimes, particularly in the Summer. The problem is that electrolyte drinks are high in sugar & sodium, neither of which is good for me. I searched the internet specifically looking for an electrolyte drink with no sugars and little added sodium and found Ultima on a website about energy/vitamin drinks that specified it was good for diabetics.I ordered the variety pack expecting to dislike at least a few of the flavors, but I actually think they’re all good. (Orange is my least favorite, but it’s still not bad.) I mix each packet into 32 oz of water. If you find the taste to be too strong or too sweet, I suggest adding more water. Some of the poor reviews state that it doesn’t have enough sodium. These drinks have 55 mg of sodium compared to 150 mg in 16 oz of Gatorade. (Gatorade also has no calcium, iron, vitamins A or C, and has 21 grams of sugar.) The lower sodium makes it good for people who need to avoid additional sodium, while still containing enough to replenish Na+ electrolytes that can be lost through sweating. Sodium -yes, it’s salt- is typically used in electrolyte supplements because it is one of a number of vital electrolytes that can become imbalanced, and is the most important electrolyte regarding water retention and loss. Higher sodium causes fluid to be retained, while low sodium is indicative of dehydration; thus, the need for sodium to avoid dehydration. Many things can cause electrolyte imbalances and what is done to correct the imbalance depends on what caused it and which electrolyte is low/high. I should hope that if you are looking for an electrolyte supplement without speaking to a doctor, you have at least some understanding of electrolytes and whether or not an electrolyte supplement is actually what you need. If you have a medical need for higher sodium, though, don’t rely on this drink.A lot of reviews also cite the use of Stevia as a reason not to buy it. As someone who has been reliant on cancer-ridden artificial sweeteners for 30 years, stevia is the single best alternative to sugar that exists for diabetics and the only NATURAL alternative. It is 100% plant based, not chemically altered, and does not affect blood sugar AT ALL (honey, agave, molasses DO raise blood sugar). It is MUCH sweeter than sugar. It is made from the stevia plant and has been used in South America for hundreds of years for medicinal purposes. It is also known to lower blood pressure and has been used to treat colic and other stomach problems. Because it invokes responses from both bitter and sweet taste receptors some people find it to have a bitter aftertaste. It can, but I haven’t found that it does in Ultima drinks -at least not at the concentration I use. Another complaint is that it is too sweet. Again, it is much sweeter than sugar and it can be too sweet if the concentration is too high. Not so for this drink in the concentration I use. If you don’t like stevia and don’t care about added sugar, just get a drink with the sugar in it.If you need a low-calorie, all-natural supplement without too much sodium, this is it.

Actually tastes good.
1. I have no idea if this product has electrolytes or just food colouring, I’m not an Analytic Chemist. But, so many of the other “electrolyte drinks” are just unbearably sweet, to me cloyingly so. After drinking one, I’m almost as thirsty for some water as before drinking one, just to wash the sweet aftertaste out of my throat. Ultima does not have that issue. You can actually drink it whilst walking/running and it actually quenches your thirst!2. For me, the ratings of flavours are pomegranate-cherry > Raspberry>Orange>Grape, but the I’ve never been a fan of grape flavoured drinks.3. Some folks complain that the mix doesn’t mix….Not an issue for me. I don’t understand their complaints. Yeah it clumps up, in the beginning. In my experience, by the time I have poured it into the bottle of water, shaken it a few times, and then gotten to the gym, it has totally mixed! One reviewer said it wouldn’t mix even after being put into a blender; I call shenanigans on that. It may be that I give the mix 10 minutes or so to actually mix, so my advice is mix it BEFORE you set sail for exercising and you’ll have not issues.Bottom-line: Best electrolyte replenishment drink I’ve used.

Works
I bought this product not knowing much about it other than what I read in the comments. It replaced a product I had used for years but was discontinued. There is not a bad thing I can say. The taste is good and the price is not bad. I’m a 70 year old retired contractor and enjoy being outside and working up a sweat in the summer. When I need to quench my thirst and prevent from cramping, I open a bottle of water, take a swallow, then pour in this pink lemonade replenisher, shake and enjoy. NO CRAMPING AT ALL. It keeps me hydrated. I have even made up a few ahead of time, put in the cooler, and taken out on the boat. Thanks

Ultima Replenisher Electrolyte Powder, knocks you out of Ketosis, NOT good for a Ketosis Diet at least not for me.
I bought Ulitma Replenisher Electrolyte Powder, Variety Pack to replenish my electrolytes doing a ketosis Diet, which I do for health reasons. I wish I could say that this powder packets kept me in Ketosis, BUT it did not. Within 1 hour of drinking, even after exercise, if found that my body was knocked out of Ketosis. I use Live Keto Strips, several times a day to check Ketosis after eating certain things. The only think I have changed in my diet has been Ultima Replenisher Electrolyte Powder. I’ve used these Electrolyte’s only twice so far, AND each time I used the product it knocked me out of Ketosis. So, I feel like I should only give it one star, because of that. BUT the drink was very satisfying and I can see why other’s enjoy this after exercise. So, that’s why I gave it 3 stars, It does what it says, it replaces Electrolytes and has a pleasant taste to go along with it. I personally will have to go back to making my homemade chicken broth and just add Sea Salt to replenish my Electrolytes or just add 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt to a glass of mineral water, until I can find a product that will also complement and help with the Ketosis Diet I am on .

Ultra recomendable!
