Great set of helpful DBT Skills cards to keep in purse or backpack
This is a really great set of DBT Skills cards to keep in my purse or backpack. They are very nicely laminated and very sturdy so they will last a long time. There are 20 of the most commonly used DBT skills in 4 categories. I, personally, have a poor memory, especially when my anxiety is really high, so these cards will be really handy for me to have with me to reference when I need a bit of help. They are easy to use. I can just flip through them and they have the category in the top right hand corner and the skill at the top of the card. They are a good size, not too big and not too small, so they are easy to read. Great deal for the price. I will definitely get some good use out of these. I highly recommend for anyone that uses DBT Skills.

Good skills to use in your mental health recovery.
These cards are perfect for me as this is the type of thing we use in my group therapy. I can carry the cards with me as a reminder of the skills I’ve learned and refer back to them whenever I’m in need of a recharge. They come with a ring making it easy to find what you’re looking for. Something I think could be improved is the quality of the cards. They’re printed well but only on coated cardstock. I think they would be more durable if they had been made of plastic.

    Useful tool in self-regulation
This is a handy set of cards that can easily be tucked into a pocket, purse, or book. You receive 10 two-sided cards with a ring to hold them together. Each card has a Dialectic-Behavioral Therapy skill (DEAR MAN, FAST, mindfulness, etc.) printed out with a graphic and the print size and font choice make it easy to read and for your eyes to flow to necessary sections (bullet points are used in places, for example). The cards feel like a waterproof plastic was used which gives them flexibility without a real bending risk. I think these are great – small and durable. They are a summary of some of the skills commonly used in DBT work and make it easy to find in this format. It would be nice if there were more cards but that could complicate things in trying to find the right skill at a high-stress time. This would be ideal to have on hand at work, school, in the car – really anywhere that a person finds themselves needing some emotional regulation. This would be most effective with those who are already familiar with the DBT framework anyway but the tips are useful for someone who simply needs skills. I would estimate the writing to be high school age and above although that depends on reading level. The price point also makes this a great value. Recommended!

So few cards – very disappointed.
I was very disappointed. The flashcards are very bare bones. I was surprised by how few there were because it looked like there were more in the picture. I didn’t feel it was worth $12 at all.

Helpful and stereotypical in equal parts
I have interesting feelings about this set.I feel that, by and large, this is a great product. It’s useful and meaningful. It makes things like therapy or therapeutic work fun and accessible. But another part of me just thinks this could have been handled a little differently.Don’t get me wrong, there are cards in this deck that are indispensable. A lot of the acronym ones, while not something that people will typically remember, provide a simple breakdown of steps that one can take while in crisis, and that’s important. However, the other part of me struggles with the notion that there are so many cards that are extraordinarily simple—we’re talking early reader, common sense-type cards such as “take a walk,” “get some air,” and “drink some water.”I don’t want to criticize those too much because they are helpful, but I feel as though this deck ranges from very complex notions to very simple ideas in a way that would make it only partially useful to the majority of people.Accessibility is really important when it comes to mental health, and I feel as though this might not be a great value for its money, as this could easily be something that’s printed and cut out and would still be more personalized for all ages.I can’t give this product more than three stars due to everything discussed, but I would hesitate to give it less because we need more easy ways to have psychological resources present, and I think the creators of this meant well. It just missed the mark for me personally with how widely differential they were.

    Huge help for coping skills
These cards have helped my daughter practice emotional coping skills. Many of the strategies suggested are ones we have heard of in therapy. However, in the moment, it can be difficult to remember which strategy works best. The cards are a great tool. We don’t have to remember anything; the options are visual. Not every strategy fits our situation, but having them handy goes a long way. They are easy to read and hang from a wall hook. It helps take the focus away from the emotions and place it on how to deal with what’s being felt. They are a huge help to us.

I have BPD. I hate flipping through my DBT workbook, or my therapy notebooks because it means revisiting old hurtful memories and events that I used for “examples” during the therapy sessions. Then I avoid my workbook and notes which leads to that Therapy Tool kit fading away (out of sight out of mind)I needed to find something to stop that, and fell upon these flash cards. These are perfect to summarize the DBT skills and they are easily accessible and travel friendly too. 5 Stars.
