Better than expected, and refurbished is a great value
This scale is better than I expected, and buying it refurbished saved a lot.I really like the built in display and how it syncs with my Garmin Connect app over wifi. I use the app to track my fitness and workouts, and sync to my Garmin bike computer. Having stats from the scale automatically feed to the app makes it easy to track and hold myself accountable. This accountability helps me maintain discipline in what I eat and how often I work out.

    Renewed is a lie
I took a chance at buying a refurbished item bc of the very specific Amazon policy that the item see here -“What should I expect to receive with my Amazon Renewed purchase? All Amazon Renewed purchases will come with accessories equivalent to those that shipped in the box when new. These items may not be original but will be compatible and fully functional. Amazon Renewed products will be packaged in either original packaging or in a new and clean cardboard box.”The bluetooth would not connect to my phone and/or the Garmin app right out of the box. I found the troubleshooting online and tediously went through as many options as I could think of in addition to what was recommended from the guide which can be summarized as – “hit the reset button”.After spending way too much of my own time trying to figure out this problem, it seemed obvious that the bluetooth chip is broken in the unit. The obvious question is – why wouldn’t this company know that it’s broken if they had taken any steps to ensure that this item is “fully functional” when I’m assuming it was returned with hmmm, let me guess – an inability to connect via Bluetooth. Fairly obvious that they just renewed this item after looking at it, concluding that everything is good, and then putting it back into inventory.Additionally, my first chat with an Amazon representative ended with them also very specifically telling me that I did NOT have to return the product and gave me instructions on how to contact this company. After explaining the problem and what I’d done for troubleshooting, including finding the troubleshooting information online, the initial response completely ignored what I’d said about the issue and simply attached a pdf of the troubleshooting guide. After I repeated myself about the troubleshooting, I was then told that the item would be replaced but I’d have to send the original broken one back for a replacement. The bottom line is due to all the bad information and customer service, it’s 2 weeks later and I don’t have a scale. Not the end of the world, but this has been a very annoying process. Fix it.I see the item is now listed as temporarily out of stock. Not surprised.

Explains output on device and the phone app.
Works well after programming to connect to garmin app on phone or the other tracking devices. I can see the report on the app explaining all the acronyms displayed on the scales screen. Can have multiple users register to this device to transmit to their devices as well.

Came broken and not working in any way stuck in pairing boot loop
Arrived broken and unable to repair. I called Garmin support (Which was amazing by the way:) They are taking care of warranty on this broken scale. Refurbished Scales like this are always a risk of not working when they arrive. Still worth the price reduction for me. Just be aware. The issue was it was stuck in a pairing bluetooth loop according to Garmin. I would go into Garmin connect and it would see the scale and start the pair process, then the scale would reboot and show a blue triangle as it was rebooting. It then threw a failed to pair error message. I tried around 20 different things and then called Garmin. They said we will send you a new one.

    Never worked
This never worked with phone on Bluetooth or wifi and reads way to low. No adjustments. Just no work from start.

    Working Out of the Box
Some of the reviews here worried me after I’d ordered, but the device turned out alright. Accessories (including batteries) were included, it worked out of the box, connected to the Garmin App, and connected to the WiFi.If it breaks after 3 months, that’s a different story, but here and now, it works as advertised.

    Terrible Effort on Garmin’s Part
First of all, this thing is stupid to pair to more than one person because you have to invite others to join through the primary user’s Garmin Connect account. Secondly, I just had a Dexascan done, which is the gold standard for body fat %. This scale measured me a full 9% higher than the Dexascan. I realize these scales are just “good” guesses at body fat %, but 9% off is way too much, especially as my body fat is already quite low for my age. I think I’m in the 90-95% in terms of low body fat for my age group. I returned this to Amazon and went with an inexpensive Bluetooth scale. If my measurements are going to be off, at least I won’t have spent $$$ for pretty useless data.
