Actually a blend, not just bisglycinate magnesium
This capsule is a reasonable size, although it is rather large. There was no powdery residue on the capsules, which made me very happy, as the last magnesium capsules I received from another brand did (probably just a broken capsule near the bottom of the bottle, but still kind of messy to deal with). What I’m not quite as happy with is that the front of the bottle doesn’t state that this is a blend of magnesium glycinate and magnesium oxide. I’m not worried about the oxide, although it’s a cheaper form which isn’t usually recommended. But it seems misleading to me that the front label leads you to believe that the 400mg is all magesium bisglycinate. Also, you need to take two capsules to obtain the full 400mg. Not a real problem, but be aware of that — 400 mg is not in one capsule.

Misleading Labeling—Not What I Expected
I’ve been using a whole food brand of magnesium glycinate, so I thought I’d give this one a try. At first glance, it looks like it contains 400mg of magnesium—but after looking closer, I realized that’s not actually 400mg of elemental magnesium. The “400mg” includes the weight of both magnesium bisglycinate and magnesium oxide, which wasn’t clear until I read the fine print on the bottle (not even mentioned in the listing title). I had to look up what “bisglycinate” meant, since it’s not the same as pure glycinate.To be fair, it didn’t irritate my stomach, and I didn’t experience any negative effects. But I also didn’t notice any real difference while using it. Ultimately, I found the labeling a bit murky and somewhat misleading. I’ll be sticking with the whole food brand that’s more transparent about its magnesium content and sourcing.

Stomach friendly magnesium supplement
I have a long history of being unable to tolerate magnesium supplements. I’ve had to discontinue every one I’ve tried. I need to take magnesium in addition to my daily calcium + Vitamin D to improve absorption. So I’ve been on the lookout for a while.Vitality Span Magnesium Bisglycinate caught my eye because in addition to containing the gentler, more bioavailable form of magnesium, the product is said to be manufactured in the USA and GMP certified.Although the listing states that this product is NSF certified, the NSF mark of certification is not found on the label. The NSF is an independent organization that tests and retests products and the facilities in which they’re manufactured for quality and safety. So it would have added to my confidence in this product if the NSF mark were actually found on the product’s label.I also noticed that although in one of the pictures shown in the listing, the product is said to me made in the USA, the label itself says that it is formulated in the USA. I would appreciate some clarification on this point as well.I’ve taken this supplement for several days now, and although I’ve taken it with food, I have to admit that I’ve experienced some very mild stomach discomfort. Maybe the magnesium oxide, which this product also contains, is the problem. At any rate, my digestive upset is not bad enough to motivate me to stop taking it.Be aware that the capsules are large. I wouldn’t call them ‘horse pills’, but they’re big. They’re close to an inch long. In spite of their size, the shape of these capsules makes them pretty easy to swallow.All things considered, I’ve been relatively pleased with Vitality Span Magnesium Bisglycinate so far. It seems to be a decent, GI friendly magnesium supplement. I would feel better about recommending it to others if the label provided greater clarity about where the product is made and whether it meets NSF standards.

Great choice, very good dosage
I’m not a doctor, and don’t pretend to be one on Amazon.I use magnesium glycinate every night before sleep to help me relax and fall asleep faster, in addition to that it can have a great impact on accelerating a morning constitution.I was excited to try these capsules as they appear to be the type I’ve always found to be slightly better than the rest at both the getting to sleep faster and the morning movement.These capsules are slightly larger than others. They don’t have any odd scent or taste. I’ve found them pretty easy to swallow. So for the capsule themselves they are great.When I took the full dosage recommended of 2 capsules I found myself in a race to plug in my electronics, phone and everything before I fell asleep. I fell asleep very quickly with the 2 capsule dosage.I started using half the dosage, just 1, and it’s been a normal evening and timing to fall asleep.Overall, these are my favorite magnesium supplements to use right now. I think they are an average value price wise, but they are definitely some of the best I’ve used.Enjoy!
