MOM TO 2 BOYS WHO WANTED A WEIGHTED VEST FOR WALKS/RUNS
Coming from someone who is getting back into shape after having two boys (oldest is 3) I wanted a vest that looked like this but no other expectations. I didn’t have any idea of what was good vs. what was bad. What was cheap vs. too expensive. After looking at various brands, ended with this one simply because of the reviews it had and a USA based company.MY HONEST REVIEW: It feels sturdy, the plates have stayed in place (8.75lb curved plates from Wolf Tactical as well). The velcro doesn’t feel cheap. I like the elastic siding as opposed to a plastic buckle some other models/ brands have. I got my own patches to put on, and they haven’t moved. It slightly bounces when I run but could be because I may need to tighten it up some.ONE THING TO NOTE: Maybe because I am new to a vest like this and takes a couple days for your body to get used to it, it was a little uncomfortable at first and slightly hurt where it settled on my low back (which was a complaint I saw in a review). I constantly adjusted during my walks and runs because it did hurt. I gave it a couple more days and now it doesn’t hurt when I put it on (currently on day 8 of walking with the vest). So if you do experience pain the first couple days, give it some time for your body to adjust to it.OVERALL: Have and will recommend this vest! While the price is steep, you get what you pay for and I can tell Wolf Tactical takes pride in the products they make.

Great vest, but a little inconvenient to get in and out of
I want to like this weight vest so bad, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep it. It’s as comfortable as a weighted vest can be, looks great, and appears to be of good quality. However, I have a previous back injury, and for some reason, this particular vest caused a sciatica flare up. That may have more to do with the weight of the inserts rather than the vest itself, so I still gave the vest 5 stars. With the 20lb inserts, it was super hard on the back and shoulders, they felt was heavier than how it feels to carry 20lbs in your hands. The vest itself is very adjustable and stays in place when you run or are moving a lot. It is a little bit of a hassle to get in and out of though, definitely not as convenient as the ones that you can just throw on and snap together. For convenience, I’d go with one of those but for durability and stability during movement, this one for sure.

A MUST BUY!
I absolutely love this vest. I am a smaller girl so it took a little while to get used to the size but it is amazing. Very easy to adjust the size if needed. Very durable material, I am not concerned about it falling apart ever. The shoulder padding is very nice and makes it feel as if you are just wearing a backpack. I do lay it out after I get done working out so the sweat can dry, but with how much I have sweat in it, there is no body odor smell or anything else!

Cool looking, but better options for rucking
This is a cool-looking, well-made vest. I have two 8.75 lb metal plates, and it totals a little more than 20lb. It makes you look hip and tough in the BOX, doing the WOD. Did it, done it. You also look tough, rucking around in the neighbor hood park with this “tactical” vest. And like many cool looking things, it really may not be the best for what your are doing. First, it feels heavier than it should because of how it hangs on the shoulders and crushes the traps. The metal plates compress your chest and back awkwardly and hinder breathing when you tighten it to keep from moving while doing jumping and running activities. It is a bit of a pain going over your head. In short, it feels just like wearing two metal plates to your chest and back and, of course, that is mentally stimulating and rewarding to one’s ego. However…. I bought a much simpler weighted vest , Zelus with “iron sand” of the same total weight (20 lb) for my wife to go rucking. I tested both on the same scale while wearing them (I tared/zeroed the scale, then stepped on while were wearing the vests.) Wow, what a difference, the weight was distributed so much better around my shoulder and back that I felt like I was hardly wearing anything at all. I weight them both again, yep, both 20 lbs. Then my wife and I both compare the Zelus vs the Wolf Tactical for rucking local hilly trails for 3 miles. The Zelus was so much more comfortable. My traps were much less sore with the Zelus, while with Wolf Tactical, after 20 min, my traps are yelling. So, if you are just walking or hiking, get something simpler like the Zelus with “iron sand”. I just bought a 30 lb Apexup with “iron sand”. It still feels lighter than than the 20lb total with Wolf Tactical. I’ve been rucking with it for over a week, and I will never go back to metal plate vests for walking/rucking. But if you are in the BOX, the superior knowledge of looking cool, the increased pain while smashing your shins during box jumps, and the chest squeeze while flailing on the butterfly kippy stuff will make the Wolf Tactical vest with metal plates a worthy investment.
